Discussion on the Third Mandate of the IFIP-IFAC Task Force on Enterprise Integration (1999-)

Peter Bernus, 29 August 1999

New Mandate

A number of Task Force members have expressed their opinions on the work that the Task Force should undertake in its third mandate and what this mandate should exactly be. Some proposals concern new items of work, while some propose the improvement and refinement of the present Task Force results (namely GERAM).

The discussions started at the Brisbane (Sanctuary Cove) strategic meeting that was jointly organised by the IFIP-IFAC Task Force and ISO TC184/SC5/WG1. The Task Force will discuss this issue at its next meeting on 5 July 1999 (Beijing, IFAC World Congress).

Members are asked to express their opinion on the Task Force mailing list wg5-12-list@cit.gu.edu.au which is also available as a hypermail archive (requires password). Importantly some new work items are standards work while others should be pursued by the Task Force before they can be channeled to standards or other channels of dissemination. Please indicate your opinion in this regard as well.

The Task Force will attempt to draft a working plan for the next mandate -- starting at the 5 July 1999, Beijing meeting. The chair attempts to keep an up-to-date SUMMARY
