Protect against a ladder to my previous move (which is why I made it - dual purpose). Putting it at O17 would have performed the same function though and protect your corner a bit more. As it is now. I could play (later) at O17 or better as it is a bit away O18 and creep into the corner. ] ;W[ic] C[(W) I form a small base on the upper edge. I could have gone H17 or G17 but that would have opened for a jump by black in between latter, which would making life very difficult. if squessed from all sides. ] ;B[fc] C[(W) Good safe move, protects corner very well from intrusion. A move at G17 would have also pressed the white group but provide less protection for corner. ] ;W[cf] C[(W) More edge grabing. I am probably to close to the corner for the initial move on this edge though. But I wanted to press that corner to try and divide your attension between the two edge groups. The question here is if you will protect your corner more, or complicate the game and expand our lower left corner up the edge. You you jump to high C10 to C12 you risk me jumping on the other side of the new piece. Or forcing me to attack the corner, to be safe. To low C7 to C9 and I'll expand down a few points to C10 or C11 to form a very small group, which will have to attack the corner and/or expand to the middle board. ] ;B[ch];W[cj] C[(W) Ok as you moved very close to me I had the choice of: corner advancement, advancing to the middle board, or working on the area below your last move. I decided on the latter with a squeese play. Next move will be very dependant on blacks next move which could be 1/ expand single piece to middle with move around E12 2/ Attack with D14 or B14. Though with space below my last move this would be wasteful at this point. 3/ grab space below at C7, C8 the later being a squeese play back again leving me with senti. Or better still a combination move between posibilities. ] ;B[eh]C[(B) being cautious, E12 more support for C12 ];W[cm] C[(W) I will exand my lower group to try and grab one more bit of edge space left. At this point the board is open to many moves. You can protect your lower left corner, upper right, you can consolidate at G3 or G4, attack my corner with S5 or S4, and a huge number of other moves. It really depends on what you think would be the best move. I myself arn't sure what to do at this point either. ] ;B[rm] C[(B) Game seems to regularly reach these points, where a large number of moves are available. I didn't move as far in as you suggested, felt I'd just be adding another vulnerable stone if I moved behind you in corner too far from other stones. ] ;W[rn] C[(W) Ok, I protect my corner from further intrusion. I suggest you ensure your group can maintain its connection as at this point it has only space for one with a posible two eyes if I don't interfer. As such it will need to link to another group. It does not have a connection to the upper corner. Posible moves I can see, R6 (attack, which I will have to respond to or you will S5 after, Q9 to ensure middle connection is as wide as posible, or P7, P8 or 08, to ensure middle board connection. ] ;B[pr] C[(B) & I come creeping in from the other side! (W) A very bold move to. Are you sure you ment Q2 and no O2? ] ;W[or] C[(W) I extend my wall, confident I can prevent you last move from doing any real damage. ] ;B[qq];W[ps] C[(W) Interesting move! I'd love to know where you plan to go next. ] ;B[pq];W[rq]C[(W) One mistake at this point can be death! ];B[qp] C[(B) I know, causing much trepidation! But waiting with anticipation for every move. (W) That is my figured best move at this point ] ;W[ro] C[(W) I myself am playing something different (for me). S5 It does not directly attack but it restricts your movement and gives me a bamboo joint to the my three on line Q ] ;B[rp] C[(B) Bamboo joint is most appropriate name. I wasn't expecting you to do that. I think I'd better plug hole, if you're not careful to restrain bamboo, it grows wild & takes over. ] ;W[sp]C[(W) OK but I first better plug the rampaging Black Stalks ]; B[pk];W[mq] C[(W) I suggest a move at L3 to prevent me from continuing my advance. ] ;B[kq] C[(B) (About L3 Suggestion) Exactly what I had decided to do, e white bamboo takes over this side as well.! ] ;W[co] C[(W) I approach the corner, C4 or B3 is suggested, or a simular expansion along the top row. (Former is my suggestion). Just to keep you on your toes.. I am thinking about the moves... C4, F4, H3, O18, C16, E14/E15, B12 In roughly that order. ] ;B[cp] C[(B) I thought C4 was my best option, but expected to be told I was moving too close to white stones again, I was surprised to see it as your suggestion. (W) If a stone is on its own, playing next to the lone stone is a disadvangage as the enemy will be one up on you, in this case you are up on him. ] ;W[nb] C[(W) Because of your close move, I decided not to attack the edge at F4 H3 as it is relativally small area and I have enough to concentrate on first. I will get back to it however. ] ;B[ob] C[(B) Well here's another close encounter, which seems to me to be the best option to stop you creeping into the corner. ] ;W[oc] C[(W) I think this is too close for the support! :-) Especially as I have a safe group attacking that corner from the other side. As such if you try to sacrifice P18, and cut me off at N17 then N18 I can try to attach to S15. I will go for it. Sacrifice one or two pieces is a big part of the game. ] ;B[pb] C[(B) I forsaw disaster in trying to cut you off at N17/N18 but you are a long way from S15. ] ;W[pc]C[(W) Follow the leader ];B[nc]C[(B) who's leading? ];W[qc]; B[rd];W[rc];B[sc];W[sb];B[qb] C[(B) Am very unsure about this move, I don't like sacrifices but also curious about it. ] ;W[sd] C[(W) I would not at this point consider your last move a sacrifice ]; B[od]C[(B) not too many alternatives for me with this move ];W[mb] C[(W) Now I can't afford the sacrifice ];B[kc] C[(B) Ah, confusion reigns supreme again - this end anyway, where to move next! ] ;W[kb] C[(W) I could move L16 and try and trap you but my pieces are still very weak and I have nothing in the middle let a lone nearby to attach to! I'll move underneath at L18 ] ;B[jc]C[(B) I shall give it close friend. ];W[jb] C[(W) and I protect my edge. ];B[hb] C[(B) I do not wish you to extend said edge into the corner. ];W[kd] C[(W) Now I have decisions. I could continue this war with protection at J18, go over the top at H17, try and cut you of at G17 (not very good) or play else where from my previous list of moves. Hmm. I'll try and make contact with the middle board and try and harass you. NOTE: your groups in the upper right corner does not have any area though it presents a good `wall' to estend great influence to the middle board. as I want to try and negate that influence and limit its area gathering potential. Good moves for your consideration... P6, O10, *G3*, N4, M2, B5, B11, C16, H17, *M14*, E14, T9, L7 (after P6) ] ;B[jd] C[(B) You do very well at harassing me without uping the ante ;-) ]; W[le]C[(W) Advance and protect my peice. ];B[ke];W[ld] C[(W) Not much choice for me here. I protect my pieces. PS: Watch your corner groups! ] ;B[kf]C[(B) I'll just protect my peice. ];W[bd] C[(W) I think it is time to protect and expain a few other places. Especiall if I can retain Senti in the process. ] ;B[ce];W[bg];B[rb] C[(B) I thought now might be a good time to take corners into consideration, or at least this one, it is making me very apprehensive. (W) That move would probably have been better as a `Ko war treat' ] ;W[sc];B[be];W[bi];B[cg];W[bf];B[bh]C[ ];W[ah] C[(B) The same thing can happen at A15! (W) Except I haven't done so yet as saving three is more important than saving one and loose both groups. :-) I may make that move. Later! Annalisis.. 1: B:A14 W:A13 B:15 W:D14 bad for black 2: B:A13 W:A14 (take) B:A15 W:D14 bad or B:D14 W:A15 bad if white can form a real eye in corner B18 may then stop that 3: B:A15 W:D14 (bad for black) B:A14 W:A13 Not good at all for black Best.. 4: B:D14 W:A15 B:B18 or B:A17 W:A16 B:B17 or W:B17 B:B18 I may aviod the above issue with B:D14 W:A15 B:either above then W:A13 B:B16 W:A11 which will result in a Ko war over A14 and A15. ] LB[af:1][ag:2][ae:3][df:4];B[df];W[ae];B[cd];W[bc];B[cb];W[bb] C[(W) Best moves for you I see now is B:B19 W:A18 B:A16*** W:A17? ] ;B[ba];W[ej] C[(W) I think I'll leve the corner for now.. You need a lot of moves to take the three stones. While I only need 2 to protect the group at C14. ] ;B[dj]C[(W) very nice move. must remember it! ] (;W[dg] C[(W) Opps, I miss moved here instead of D11! I rejected this as I thought you would move at E13 and really stuf me up! ] ;B[di];W[ci];B[dh];W[eg];B[ck]C[(W) tricky move! ];W[bk];B[cl];W[em]; B[dn];W[do];B[bo];W[bn];B[eo];W[cn];B[bl];W[bp] C[(W) You failed to protect your B5 piece! This should have been your last move, not that I like you last move! ] ;B[bm];W[ak];B[fg]C[(B) You are not protecting D13/E13? ];W[ef] C[(W) But they are still safe! (B) so they are! ];B[cc];W[de] C[(W) Divide and conquer! take 1! (B) RIP :'-( ];B[ee]C[ ];W[ff];B[gf] ;W[fh];B[gg];W[dk] C[(W) looks like you just got surrounded I was waiting to make this move to cut the four stones at C8 from your group for a very long time, but kept from making it as if I did it you could move at D8 which will mean I have to move at E9 to protect it and than a move at D7 or E8 whould make life really difficult! This is better though ;-) Sorry. I suggest posible moves at J15 to protect also.. G5, H11, M13, O10, O8, M2, M5, G7, B3 (with A3 for corner protect) PS: you make if you very lucky surround my group at C6 yet, but I would leave that for end play. At B2 you can place the stone, but is still a bit away. C3 is a triangle formation which is a very clustered formation. ] ;W[mk] C[(W) Basically I am tring to grab a few points of middle terriroy, as the walls of the terrory still need to be make only 3-4 empty areas behind that stone is forsable.
